Dynamic Map

It´s been a couple of days since Netbrain´s map changes are not being saved. I add every link, save the map and when I log out and log back in all the changes dissapeared. Does anyone know how to solve this? Server was restarted for patching and the issue persists so that didn´t work. Any advice will be appreciate it.

I’m working in an inherited Netbrain install. One pair of our Palo Alto NGFWs only show HA and management interfaces, none of the physical ethernet interfaces. This causes issues when searching paths that run through these firewalls. A path search that traverses this firewall will start with a switch directly connected to the firewall. If the next hop from the layer 3 switch is an ethernet interface/zone on the Palo Alto, Netbrain places an End System on the map. The end system’s IP address is the one assigned to the PA ethernet interface. The path ends with this “end system” (and a Path Failed message: Gateway device was not found), as there is no apparent discovered route from the source zone to the destination zone in the firewall, and then to the eventual destination. When viewing the firewall’s config in Netbrain, the physical interfaces are listed, along with the virtual router’s associated zones, corresponding interfaces and routes. +++In comparison, a different pair of Palo Alt

Hi All, Is there a way to get the complete hostname displayed for a device on a map.. currently when the hostname is longer it trims off some part of the hostname. seems to happen for both compact and expanded mode. also if we could add the model and ios also on the expanded mode instead of the generic “device type” 

Could anybody share some success story how to arrange a NetBrain map hierarchy for big sites?When there is a huge site with hundreds/thousands of devices, it would be worth to start with a top level map showing how particular buildings are connected each to the others.And then to go deeper to particular buildings, floors, racks …I’d like to create site maps containing devices plus icons representing links to other maps. But with site maps restrictions like “any device can be visible in a single leaf map only” and “no device can be visible in a container site, just leaf sites” I don’t see any easy way how to create a site map hierarchy. Thanks,Milan   

Are these working for you? What should be the prerequisite for VXLAN in order for Netbrain Path Calculation to draw the underlay devices? Thank you!

We use Palo Alto firewalls and a few are configured with Virtual Wire interfaces (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/9-1/pan-os-admin/networking/configure-interfaces/virtual-wire-interfaces). However Netbrain doesn’t identify virtual wire interfaces and won’t add the firewalls to a map. Is there anyway to add a virtual wire interface either through the discovery or added manually? Thanks.

How to automate exporting the site maps from Netbrain to shared folder 

How to create sitemap using deviceid, mapSettingHelper.build_site_map_setting("device_id", false) as there may be possibilities of duplicate hostname.If I refer “Defining Event Templates to Process Events in NetBrain” in help it is giving# create mapmap_setting = mapSettingHelper.build_site_map_setting("device_name", False)  #replace with a real device or device parameter in raw dataIn this case what are the device parameters we can use other than hostname

I’m looking to create a Run Book or Intent that will show me mac addresses only for specific interfaces on a Cisco switch in support of a CRQ network change. I don’t want to see 20 or 30 interfaces, just the 5 I am changing. Then I’d like to compare a before and after on just those five interfaces. 

Has anyone tackled this beast? I am trying to setup routing via Velocloud Edge devices. Is there an option with adding a device with a pre-built configuration without having to be online for discovery? It will be used for path maps usage, but the customer didn’t want netbrain to have access to a few boxes on the network. We are talking about a few sites compared to the several thousand assets we have been able to discover. We didn’t want to have the situation where a gap in path calculations can occur.I am also thinking this could be useful for test environments to see how traffic will transverse the network.  Thoughts? 

I have a path drawing from A-Z, how can I make it show active gre-tunnels as well on the same drawing only for Z device?I am also trying to recall how to add new node/ device on current path map and see connections from/to it? I have done that before but cannot recall it. Thanks

Hi all,I have a list of 50+ devices (hostnames) in a file which I would like to add to a single map. They are spread among many existing groups. Is there a way how to have them added to a map all at once? Like “Add to a map every hostname from this csv file” kind of at once.Or do I have to add them one by one from search menu?Related question, once I am finished with discovery process in domain management, is there a way to immediately put all discovered devices into a single map?Thank you for your timeJan Dudic 

We allow license surging in Release 10.x.  For a company whose growth strategy is growth through acquisition, our ability to scan the network of the “to be acquired company” is immense.  However, it is my understanding we can only scan access points and API based devices.  So legacy network devices, (i.e., routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls) cannot be scanned.   If my understanding is wrong, please correct me.  I feel that if this is correct, it is a tremendous shortcoming in the value proposition we can offer companies like Nestle and Centene.  I’d like to be able to punch a hole into the “to be acquired company’s” firewall, install a front server and discover their entire network, not a subset of it.   Can this be something we address in the near term?
