NetBrain currently restricts the number of neighbors that can be added to a topology map in a single operation to 50, which requires customers with larger environments to perform repeated manual actions to complete their topology. This enhancement would introduce a configurable or increased neighbor limit, allowing more neighbors to be added in a single pass during map expansion. Customers managing large-scale networks would benefit from reduced manual effort and faster topology completion when building out maps.
NetBrain Incident Manager currently does not provide a way to select and delete multiple incidents simultaneously, requiring users to remove incidents one at a time even when large volumes of stale or unwanted incidents accumulate. This enhancement would add a bulk selection and delete action within Incident Manager, allowing users to select all or a filtered subset of incidents and remove them in a single operation. Customers managing high incident volumes would benefit from significantly reduced manual effort and faster cleanup of the incident repository.
NetBrain currently displays a blank cell on an Automated Data Table when a replicated Intent fails to produce a result, with no inline indication of the cause. Users must invoke a separate debug option to investigate, which is not intuitive for locating the source of the failure. This enhancement would add an inline error message or a direct pointer to troubleshooting details within the empty cell itself, so the cause of a failed replication is visible without a separate debug step. Surfacing this information directly would reduce the time and effort required for customers to diagnose replication failures on Automated Data Tables.
NetBrain currently does not provide a way to monitor seat license consumption over time, leaving administrators without visibility into how usage fluctuates as users log in and out. Without historical or trend data, teams cannot reliably identify peak usage periods or plan license capacity in advance. This enhancement would introduce a reporting or dashboard capability that tracks seat license usage over time, including peak concurrent usage figures. Customers would benefit from improved capacity management, enabling proactive license planning and reducing the risk of users being locked out when license limits are unexpectedly reached.
NetBrain dashboards currently do not provide a stable, embeddable hyperlink that can be used within an iframe on an external portal or web page. This enhancement would allow a Summary Dashboard to be shared as an embeddable link, with appropriate authentication handling, so it can be rendered inside third-party pages such as a corporate intranet or SharePoint site. This capability would allow customers to consolidate NetBrain dashboard data alongside other platforms in a single pane of glass view, reducing the need to switch between separate tools to monitor network health.
NetBrain currently sends an automated email notification when a user account is set to expire, but administrators cannot modify the body or message text of this notification template. This enhancement proposes providing an interface for administrators to customize the content of the account expiration notification email, similar to other configurable system notification templates. Allowing template customization would let organizations tailor messaging to their internal communication standards and reduce confusion for recipients.
NetBrain currently provides no supported way to reassign ownership of files such as maps, intents, reports, and QApps from one user account to another. When an organization changes username conventions, offboards employees, or otherwise retires accounts, files owned by the old account can become difficult to locate or entirely inaccessible, including private QApps and files tied to former employee accounts. This enhancement proposes an administrator-facing capability to transfer ownership of a user's files, individually or in bulk, to a different active account. Organizations that periodically restructure account naming or experience staff turnover would benefit from a reliable way to preserve institutional knowledge and avoid permanent loss of work product tied to retired accounts.
The System Administration panel does not currently allow administrators to sort user accounts by the Department field, and this field is also unavailable when exporting the user list. This enhancement would add Department as a sortable column in the user management grid and include it as a field in user list exports. Administrators managing large or organizationally structured user populations would benefit from a faster way to group, review, and audit accounts by department.
NetBrain currently does not provide a way to monitor user seat license consumption or notify administrators as usage approaches the licensed limit. Administrators can only observe seat usage manually and have no visibility until the limit is fully reached, which does not allow time to plan for additional capacity. This enhancement would add configurable threshold-based alerting for user seat consumption, notifying administrators when usage reaches defined levels below the full seat count. Customers would gain advance visibility into approaching seat limits, allowing them to budget and procure additional seats before running out.
NetBrain currently does not provide a built-in way to generate a consolidated view of device attribute status, such as GDR mgmtInvStatus, or hostname change activity across all domains and tenants. Administrators must review this information domain by domain, which becomes time-consuming in large multi-tenant environments. This enhancement would introduce a consolidated reporting capability that aggregates device attribute status and hostname change data across all domains and tenants, along with an API to trigger hostname updates and retain the latest value. Customers managing large, multi-domain or multi-tenant deployments would benefit from centralized visibility and reduced manual effort when auditing device status or reconciling hostname changes.
NetBrain currently does not provide a way to copy an existing page from one map and add it into a different map; users must manually recreate the devices, connections, and layout on the target map. This enhancement would add a copy-page capability that lets users select a page from a source map and insert it, along with its content and layout, into another map. Customers building multi-map projects would benefit from faster map assembly and reduced manual rework when reusing existing page content across related maps.
The NDP table currently does not display the platform information for discovered neighbor devices, limiting visibility into device type during topology analysis. This enhancement would add a Platform column to the NDP table so that platform details are visible alongside existing neighbor discovery attributes. Customers working in mixed-vendor environments would gain improved context without needing to cross-reference other tools to determine neighbor device platform.
NetBrain currently limits the time range configurable in scheduled QApp settings to 1440 minutes (24 hours), which prevents customers from defining a monthly scheduling window directly within the QApp settings interface. This enhancement would extend the available time range option to support up to 24*30 hours, allowing a monthly benchmark schedule to be configured natively. Supporting this broader range would remove the need for manual workarounds and give customers greater flexibility when planning longer-interval automated QApp executions.
NetBrain currently requires customers to rely on an external FTP or TFTP server to transfer IOS images to network devices during image upgrade workflows executed through Change Management. This enhancement would introduce a built-in FTP/TFTP service within NetBrain, allowing administrators to upload IOS images directly through the GUI and push those images to devices as part of a Change Management upgrade task, without configuring or maintaining a separate external server. This would simplify the upgrade process and reduce infrastructure dependencies, which is particularly valuable for customers operating in secure or restricted environments where introducing additional external servers is undesirable.
NetBrain currently requires a separate user account for each LDAP source a user authenticates against, which results in multiple accounts for the same individual when an organization uses more than one LDAP directory. This causes ambiguity in identifying users and can lead to loss of previously configured user profile settings when a different account is used for authentication. This enhancement would allow a single NetBrain user account to be associated with multiple LDAP sources, so that authentication against any of the linked directories resolves to the same account and profile. Customers operating multiple LDAP directories would benefit from consistent user identity, reduced administrative overhead, and preservation of user profile settings regardless of which LDAP source is used to authenticate.
NetBrain currently has no mechanism to visually indicate that two mapped devices form a high-availability (HA) firewall pair, even when both devices are present on the same map. Users cannot readily identify HA relationships without external knowledge, since the map does not distinguish paired devices from unrelated ones. This enhancement would introduce a default data view or map indicator that surfaces HA pairing information between mapped firewalls, independent of any Layer 2 or Layer 3 connection between them. Customers managing redundant firewall deployments would gain clearer visibility into their HA architecture directly on the map, reducing the need for manual cross-referencing during design review or troubleshooting.
NetBrain currently truncates device hostnames displayed on maps when the name exceeds a fixed character limit, showing an ellipsis in place of the full name in both compact and extended label formats. This truncation also carries over when the map is exported, so the exported file does not contain the complete hostname either. This enhancement would increase or remove the character limit for hostname labels on maps, or provide a setting to display the full hostname on hover or in exported output. Customers with longer hostname naming conventions would benefit from accurate, complete device identification on maps without needing manual lookups or edits after export.
NetBrain currently opens the Neighbors dialog box at a fixed, small default size that often truncates device names, requiring users to manually expand the window each time it is opened. This enhancement would increase the default size of the Neighbors dialog box so that longer device names are visible without manual resizing, and would allow users to configure and save a preferred default size in their settings. Reducing the need for repeated manual resizing would save time for customers who reference the Neighbors dialog frequently while working with topology maps.
The 'match near' search operator currently does not accept spaces within its search string, which prevents customers from constructing multi-term proximity queries such as combining a keyword phrase with parameters like span and order settings. Additionally, there is no 'does not match near' operator available for excluding results based on proximity criteria. This enhancement proposes updating the 'match near' operator to support spaces within its query syntax and introducing a complementary 'does not match near' operator for negated proximity searches. Customers building Dynamic Search criteria or Dynamic Device Group membership rules would gain more flexible and precise control over proximity-based searches, reducing the need for workarounds when defining complex search or exclusion logic.
NetBrain's compare function currently requires users to select items individually when choosing which entries to include in a comparison, with no option to select all items at once. This enhancement proposes adding a select all control to the compare function so that users can select every available item in a single action. This capability would reduce manual selection effort and improve efficiency for customers comparing large sets of devices or data entries.
NetBrain currently truncates device note text within DVT once it reaches a certain length, and this truncation is present in both the Web UI and the Functional Portal, preventing users from viewing the complete note content. This enhancement would remove or substantially raise the character limit applied to device notes so that full note content displays consistently across both interfaces. Customers rely on device notes to capture complete operational context and troubleshooting details, and eliminating this truncation would ensure critical information remains accessible and is not silently cut off.
NetBrain Smart CLI currently does not provide standard terminal emulator functions found in common SSH clients. Users cannot select a word or line via double- or triple-click, cannot copy the full session output from the start of the terminal, cannot clear the scrollback buffer, cannot reset the terminal, and can only select and copy text that is currently visible on screen rather than longer command output. This enhancement would add these terminal emulation capabilities to Smart CLI, bringing its text selection, copy, and session management behavior in line with familiar terminal clients. Providing this functionality would allow engineers to rely solely on the NetBrain platform for device management tasks, removing the need to switch to external terminal tools for common copy and session-handling actions.
Summary Dashboards currently display only aggregate counts of alerts and successes, and cannot be linked to or expanded into a Universal Dashboard for more granular views. Users who need a breakdown by attributes such as device type or utilization percentage must build and navigate to a separate Universal Dashboard manually, with no direct path between the two views. This enhancement would add the ability to configure a drill-down link from a Summary Dashboard widget directly into a related Universal Dashboard, preserving relevant context such as the selected metric or time range. This would give operations teams a faster path from a high-level summary view to detailed, attribute-based breakdowns, supporting more effective monitoring workflows in network operations centers.
NetBrain does not currently maintain a version history for Intent or Automated Data Table (ADT) definitions, so users must manually save a new file with a timestamp each time they want to preserve a prior state. This makes it difficult to track changes over time or recover an earlier version without cluttering the environment with multiple saved copies. This enhancement would introduce version history tracking for Intent and ADT objects, allowing users to view prior versions and restore a selected version directly, without manual file duplication. This capability would reduce administrative overhead and lower the risk of losing a working configuration when changes need to be reverted.
NetBrain currently retains every captured historical data snapshot, including versions where no meaningful change occurred, which increases storage consumption over time. This enhancement proposes a storage retention option that keeps only the versions where an actual change in the underlying data was detected, discarding or skipping redundant unchanged snapshots at the point of capture. Customers with large device inventories and frequent data collection cycles would benefit from reduced storage overhead and more efficient long-term historical data management.
