A ping (ICMP traffic) from my VM to e.g. netbraintech.com takes a different path than an Web request (HTTP(S)) traffic to netbraintech.com: (1) ping: VM => hop A => hop B => hop C => internet border router => Internet. (2) Web: VM => hop A => hop X => web-proxy => hop Y => internet border router => Internet. However, NetBrain can only map the 1st (ping type) path because it’s not aware that VMs in our company are configured with proxy settings for Web traffic. Therefore, to get the 2nd path, I have to trace 2 separate paths: from VM to proxy; from proxy to internet. With the following enhancement to the path trace tool NetBrain could perhaps trace both paths on my behalf and stitch them together into a single path: - add an optional “Proxy” field to path trace tool; - if it’s blank, do a normal path trace; - if it has a device name, trace from source to that device, then from that device to destination.I’m aware of Path IP and Gateway fix-up rules, but when using them, the trace from source to proxy is displayed as a single step whereas in reality it’s not.
Hi – Looks like PC/Unsupported devices are marked as Device/Interface Down in the health monitor. SNMP failed is a false positive statement.Yet possibly we can have an alternate Warning Message stating “SNMP not supported for this device type”Note: Please comment for enhancement request only if this is productive 😊 pfa images. Thanks. !
Our SD-WAN will be managed by a third-party, and our NetBrain instance won’t have privileged access to any SD-WAN device (no matter edge router or controller, via SSH or API).As more and more SD-WAN routers are being deployed in our environment, cross-country path traces start failing in NetBrain. In a year or so a big part of this very useful NetBrain functionality will be gone for us.The 3rd party MSP agreed to grant us only user-mode SSH access to SD-WAN routers, meaning we’ll be able to login and do pings/traceroutes off those routers.Would it be possible to create a solution (patch / plugin / QApp etc.) whereby if a path trace hits a device with a specific naming convention (or other defined parameters), NetBrain would switch to using traceroute command to continue path trace on that device, and once it’s able to get past those devices, switch back to normal mode of tracing?
If we decom a switch or router and delete from netbrain we lose all the cached configuration from that system. I would be nice to be able to put the device in maintenance mode and remove it from the domain but still cache the configuration and legacy data in an archive. It is rare we need to go back and look at a previous configuration, but it does occur.
When you want to rediscover devices from Fine Tune, either from Missed Devices or from Unknown SNMP SysObjectID, the IP addresses of the selected devices are automatically transferred to the Discovery page and entered into the IP Range field. Unfortunately, the selected scan method is not correct. Instead of Scan IP Range it is set to Discover via Seed Routers. And we definitely want to scan the selected IPs, nothing else.
When using the Overall Health Monitor, the map is not as important to me as the table with the Interface Data. The problem is that with every new poll, the table is being reset and the view switches to Device Data. I then have to switch the table and scroll down to the line where I was at. With a polling intervall of 30 seconds that is a lot of switching and scrolling.I wish the new poll would only populate the table with current values and not reset the table view.Thank you.
I asked the question and got a great answer already, but can you add that answer on how to delete devices from NetBrain in your online help? I think it’s pretty well written, but I can’t keep coming back here to remember how to delete devices! Thanks,Richard
A lot of functionality in NetBrain can be handled using Python or cURL code. To make handling the code easier it would be great if NB could generate the code for a function for the user to work on.Exampleslog in, set tenant and domain of the currently used credentials for any map, provide the code to export the map as Visio for a discovery, recreate this discovery as Python codeThis is similar to the code provided already to use a certain API stub.
Usually, when discovering devices you use the mgmt IP which is fine for most devices. Cisco Nexus support VDC and when you discover via the mgmt IP, you only get the admin context but not the important stuff from the productive contexts.Adding the command show running-config vdc-all will provide the missing information.Of course, this information will also require analysis and interpretation, adding IPs, routing etc.
We have a large number of sites, more than 500. I didn’t find a way on GUI where I can import Dynamic Search criteria for all my sites. Need a solution to bulk import search criteria for sites in large network; manually define each site is not acceptable.
