If we decom a switch or router and delete from netbrain we lose all the cached configuration from that system. I would be nice to be able to put the device in maintenance mode and remove it from the domain but still cache the configuration and legacy data in an archive. It is rare we need to go back and look at a previous configuration, but it does occur.

I wanted to have this feature as well but since it did not exist, I found my own solution: I created a site called “Dismantled” and put the devices in there and exempted the site in the benchmark. In version R10 there is now a site called “Excluded from site” which could be used for this purpose.
I have no idea what effect this has on the node licenses though.
