QApp scripting questions

Hi,

I’m trying to understand the scripting environment a bit more for qApps and have a few questions.

  1. For a table driven canvas I can pass one of table column values as a parameter to a parser.  Is it possible to pass any other types of variables to a parser, say from another script?  If so, how do you make it so that the variable is in scope for the parser
  2. Is it possible to access those table columns from a table driven canvas in scripts attached to a following table?  If so, what’s the syntax you need to use?
  3. What is the Variable Mapping option in the Run Options dialog used for?

Many thanks in advance…

Regards,

Andy

Q1: Is it possible to pass any other types of variables to a parser, say from another script?

Ans: One common use case that I could think of is "define input variables" and then use that input variables in parser

  • Define input variables:

Q2: for you to be able to access certain columns from a previous table, in a later table's script, you need to use "$"  and you will get the available options. Look below for example

  • Q3  let's you define same variable name for different parsers
