Site or Map-Scoped L2/L3 Topology Recalculation

NetBrain currently recalculates L2 and L3 topology through a full nightly rebuild process, which can take several hours to complete across the entire network. Customers who make localized network changes, such as re-cabling a switch connection in a single office, must wait for the next full topology cycle before the updated connectivity is reflected in health checks and maps. This enhancement would introduce the ability to trigger an on-demand topology recalculation scoped to a selected site or map, rather than requiring a full network rebuild. Providing a targeted recalculation option would let customers validate recent physical or logical changes quickly, reducing wait time and improving the accuracy of near-real-time health monitoring.

If you have domain admin rights, you can do one of two things.

  1. You can take a map with the devices, retrieve live data (make sure to check update the baseline option). After that, go to domain management and manually re-calculate L3 and L2 topologies. 
  2. Create a benchmark (I’ve got one called “One-Time Benchmark” with a “One-Time Benchmark”) device group. Enable topology update as part of it.

One thing they changed in one of the recent versions is that it doesn't do a topology update like it would with a nightly benchmark. It only does what has changed in its database. When we do a nightly benchmark, it takes about 20 minutes for our L2 topology to update. If I do one of the two methods above, the L3 topo update takes about 30 seconds and the L2 takes about 2 minutes.
