Can NB help in detecting unauthorized network gear ?
Such as devices used in a home environment such as NetGear, Linksys, Belkin, etc..
These devices could be switches/hubs/AP’s.

how about exporting complete lists of NDP (CDP and LLDP) neighbours, or even L2 devices from MAC address tables? Then you could check for NetGear, Linksys OUIs. With some testing and experience, you might even get this automated halfway decently.
