Troubleshooting always brings out the truth about your workflow. When an outage hits or performance tanks, the fastest path to clarity usually comes from the tools that remove guesswork. This week, we’re asking the community to share real examples of how NetBrain helped reduce troubleshooting time in a meaningful way. Maybe a Dynamic Map instantly revealed an unexpected routing change or a broken hop. Maybe Deep Diagnosis pinpointed the root cause before CLI commands even entered the chat.

Your stories help shape a smarter community playbook and give newer members practical ideas they can apply right away.

The historical snapshots within NetBrain have helped me track down configuration on specific devices that had been changed and view diffs, quickly.

Another example would be the path analysis feature to check for ACLs when clients indicate they can’t get to a destination. We’ve started building some dashboards, etc. as well.

The ServiceNow to NetBrain Module has allowed me to use triggered automation to make sure my diagnostics capture the issues alerting from our monitoring tool via our ITSM tool to make sure I get the diagnostics I need at the moment the alert happens, really useful in capturing logs!

For pro-active work we have several scheduled qapps which show us things like increasing CRC errors, correct flags set for access points, PoE limits, Catalyst file system usage etc.
For troubleshooting we use the massive NB data collecting ability as well as maps and path traces with ACl information.
A great plus for documentation is not only the maps with L2 or L3 connectivity but also the export to Word DOC containing ALL information from the map.
