honeycomb (and other) grids for MapsOpen

Currently we have snapping and I’m excited about that. Currently it is only vertical and horizontal.I would like to see different "Grids" for the layout of the map that you can use to “Snap” your device icons to. These snap grids would come in Hexagonal, trianglular, isometric, honeycomb,etc. basically faint guidelines in different shapes (match the shape of the devices to the shape of the map grids.

Feature - Update Map OptionsOn the Roadmap

One issue we tend to have, is that our large site maps can change from time to time, and while you can set the benchmark to update maps automatically, it resets positioning as well. Having to re-drag 10 switches is easy, 300+ switches, not so much. There is a semi-workaround where you set the map layout, then unset it in the map layout manager. But it’s a very convoluted process that is easily broken if someone doesn’t know any better.  It would be nice, both in the benchmark and within the map, that when you update maps, there’s advanced options.My suggestions for enable/disable check boxes:Update Devices (Adds new ones, removes old ones) Update Links Reset device positions to default map layout.

Import Background as a picture fileOpen

I would like to be bale to import a picture file (png, jpg, other format) as a background so that I can overlay my network diagram on it.  This will provide a spacial relationship for network devices within my facility and also for my WAN.

Hi,I have several scheduled Qapps searching for various kinds of errors. When the result is empty, meaning the qapp ran but no error was found, there is no CSV published. Instead of providing no information which could be interpreted as a Qapp error, please provide confirmation that the Qapp ran successfully but no result was produced.

Network Intent 'How-To' seriesOpen

Using Camtasia (or similar) screen video capture software, create a series of video’s showing fully narrated “Dirt Simple” Network Intents, and then progressing through to more complex intents.The goal is to help the majority of NetBrain users who’ve never used a Network Intent to move from ground zero to at least a novice working knowledge of how to use Network Intents.For example: Start with how to create a network intent which starts with a simple ‘Show Run’ for an access switch. Import the Show Run data into a Network Intent. Parse and create a variable for the size of the log table. Add steps to change the log size to 64000. Show deployment running on one switch. Show deployment running on 4 or 5 switches just as easily. Show how to only update specific switches.Innovate and add complexity from there.

Support for Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD)Open

Cisco Firepower Threat Defense devices use separate interfaces for SNMP and CLI, while Netbrain Fine Tune only allows for a single management IP for both CLI and SNMP. As a result, Cisco FTDs that are discovered via SNMP are not accessible via CLI. Attempts to allow SNMP on the CLI interface on the FTDs have failed to allow Netbrain to properly discover and access these devices, and per Netbrain Support there is no ETA on supporting these devices.

There’s no easy way to quickly check interface MTUs throughout the network and spot potential mismatches. Therefore having a column for MTU in Interface Report would greatly help with network audits.

Having an alert in the GUI is good but usually no one in the NOC constantly watches GUIs, so having a sound notification would greatly help. It’s already implemented in all monitoring software like Zabbix / Nagios / Cacti etc.

Monitor physical links in a port-channelOpen

When one physical link goes down inside a port-channel with mupltiple physical links, your port-channel will continue to work and unless you monitor the physical connections, there will be no alert. When the port-channel is used for a Cisco FEX (Fabric Extender) it will be difficult to model this in your monitoring because there is not endpoint to define it on.My suggestion: collect all port-channels of a map and their physical interfaces and then query the status of the interfaces. Port-channels with less than 100% working interfaces are marked on the map.This could also be used for pre and post change checks.

Dynamic Search Interface Criteria OptimizationOpen

When creating a Dynamic Device Group using Dynamic Search Interface I can only use pre-defined interface criteria. If my criteria do not exist in the drop down list, then I cannot filter for it and I doubt that NB will ever get the criteria list complete and up to date with all the updates from the vendors. What I would like to see is the option Free Text or String. That would be independant of criteria or vendor updates.

Add the ability to Clone/Duplicate in some key areasOn the Roadmap

Hi NetBrain, It would be great to be able to clone or duplicate details that have been entered into NetBrain in some key areas, for example: Being able to clone the “Basic System Benchmark” task or any other task, this way we can create standard tasks , duplicate and do minor tweaks (such as the device scope) it will save a lot of effort and upkeep. The same goes for Layout Styles in Map Layout manager, it would be great to clone those and and tweak as required. Thanks for your consideration

NetBrain - Feature Request, Enhance Runbook exportOpen

Dear NetBrain, Regarding the Export feature of Runbooks. The export of Runbook information is really detailed “after” the Runbook has been executed, you can see the results of the commands run and the comparison. But we would like to export the Runbook details to Word before the Runbook is executed, so we can put the details into a Change Authorisation Form (part of the change management process outside of NetBrain which needs sign off before we can execute the Runbook) So as an example, in a Runbook you could create a step to run two show commands and then collect the standard set of “Built-in Live data” across a number of devices. At this stage we would like to see in the export what tables will be retrieved and commands are going to be run. But when you export a Runbook that has not yet been run you do not get this information, it focuses on the results (which have not been run at this stage) not the commands or tables you will be collecting. Would it be possible to include the commands and tables that will be run in the Runbook export, as a new feature?e.g in the export for that step in the Runbook something like this: Runbook StepDevices in Scope:Switch1 Switch2 Router3 Commands to be executed:show run show int status  Tables to be collected:MAC Table ARP TableThis would save us double keying this information into a separate Change Authorisation Form, we could export all of this and save a lot of time, this detail makes up 90% of the form. Many Thanks for your consideration, happy to discuss further

Configuration ComparisonOpen

Is there already a Qapp that checks for differences between “show run” and “show configuration”, or generally between active and saved configurations? If not, I would like to present this as an idea. This check could be used generally in maps or networks as part of the health check or could be used specifically to accompany changes, to make sure that the changes were not only made but saved as well.

Smart CLI would be much more useful if it was possible to :Open a connection to multiple devices at once (e.g. select multiple devices on a map, right-click and choose “Smart CLI”). Send a command to multiple devices at once.

Names of maps triggered by SNOW shall contain the number of triggering INCOpen

Currently maps triggered by SNOW are named using a fixed part and a numerical part that has nothing to do with SNOW INC number. It prevents from being able to search the map related to an incident, or do cleanup of unnecessary maps. Having the SNOW INC number reflected in NetBrain map name would ease many things.

List L2 Connections as TextAvailable

From a map with L2 connections I would like to have an export of all shown connections as text. Something like this format:device1, interface Gi1 - device2, interface Gi1/1device1, interface Gi2- device3, interface Gi1/5 and so on.I imagine this should not be too difficult because the information is already available on the map, it could be done as a CSV export or in a Note on the map.
